Association of Academic Physiatrists (AAP)

Marketing and Membership Coordinator

A couple of months after I graduated college, I received a job offer from a small nonprofit outside of Baltimore. I was curious about the nonprofit sector so I eagerly accepted the offer and shipped myself out of the D.C. area to Charm City. While there, I was the point person when it came to anything dealing with AAP’s members, social media strategies, and marketing campaigns. In addition, I oversaw multiple committees, developed grassroots marketing efforts, membership issues, and the day-to-day communications between the association and it’s members. During my first week on the job, I hit the ground running by initiating a new marketing campaign called The Coming Home Campaign.  It dealt with membership recruitment and targeting the lowest-hanging fruit, an audience of lapsed members within the past five years. It was an email and direct mail campaign that boosted AAP’s membership by 8%. I also aided in SEO, website design and management, planning AAP’s annual conference, drafting press releases, and pitching to the media. I spearheaded two new campaigns titled, Fetch-the-Faculty and I’m Going that improved membership numbers and raised attendance at AAP’s 2017 Annual Conference in Las Vegas by 17%.
