The Memphis Blues
In a sports public relations class, I was on a team that created a fictional football franchise called The Memphis Blues to compete in fantasy football against the entire class. My team and I researched the demographics of Memphis and presented it as the best city to establish an NFL franchise. The Blues ended up winning the fantasy league. We published game notes, media relations planning sheets, press releases, audio news releases, and official statements on a newswire service linked to WordPress. We also held a crisis news conference along with drafting a crisis manual for the future.
The Memphis Blues are a team in the National Football League. Established in 2015, the Memphis Blues play out of Memphis, Tennessee in the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. The Blues pride themselves on having committed athletes on and off the field through community social relations and being great role models for Memphis’ youth. With the motto of “Athletes today, citizens always,” the Memphis Blues aim to make a positive name for themselves within their surrounding city and the NFL as a whole.
